GET STARTEDABOUT OUR FOUNDER
Arke was founded by Nana Arkorful, a historically underrepresented founder of African descent. He is also a first generation college graduate and represents a minority of founders who don't widely receive funds for startup development. Nana developed an affinity for technology and a love for vehicles at a young age and graduated from Morehouse College, a prestigious historically black college in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Physics.
Nana is an immigrant from Chicago, originally hailing from Ghana, West Africa. Growing up in the vibrant Bronzeville neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, Nana developed a deep connection to his community, which has been instrumental in shaping his life and inspiring his dedication to using Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) as a catalyst for positive change and innovation.
Nana’s journey took an unexpected turn just before graduating from high school when he was tragically wounded by gunfire, a life-altering experience that further fueled his determination to give back to his community and leverage his engineering skills to make a difference.
As a board member of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE - Chicago Chapter), Nana is a lead ambassador for a pilot program aimed at supporting start-ups in advancing their technology at Chicago's largest hardtech incubator, mHUB. Additionally, Nana serves as a mentor for high school students aspiring to become engineers through NSBE Chicago's robotics program, known as the "Brogrammers." For over five years, Nana has dedicated himself to teaching and mentoring children in underserved communities, serving as a Director of Technology and establishing Makerspaces where they can safely explore, design, and create their visions for the future.
Nana’s experiences have ignited his passion for using technology and engineering to make a positive impact on his community. As a result, he is committed to continuing his efforts to create a brighter future for all.
